Person Pizza from Assembli

I love pizza but I'm picky about how it's made. It needs to have a thin crust and the sauce needs to be pure tomatoes (no weird extra sweetness). That's why when Assembli opened in my neighbourhood, I got really excited.

Assembli is a restaurant that the Church & Wellesley Village desperately needed. Before opening a few months ago, the neighbourhood was devoid of a good pizza place. With several topping options, as well as a gluten-free crust option (for an extra $3), it's the perfect spot to hit up on a Friday or Saturday night or for a quick lunch.

Like most pizza places, you can choose pizzas from Assembli's menu like Smoke & Fire (pepperoni, smoked cheddar, mozzarella, red peppers, red onions and spicy tomato sauce) or Root Cause (roasted root vegetables, mozzarella, roasted garlic, red onions and spicy tomato sauce). You can also build your own pizza, which is the route I went with. Unlike every other pizza joint, you can load your pizza up with as many toppings as you would like at no extra charge. Assembli charges $14 for an 11 inch pizza (with regular dough) and $7 for a 6 inch classic pizza (pepperoni, cheese or Hawaiian).

Although Aseembli's main focus is pizza, they also have salads on their menu. Like the pizzas, you have the option of creating your own salads with the restaurant's many toppings or you can get one of the salads from their menu like Open Sesame (spinach, brown rice, peppers, carrot, cucumber, edamame, cilantro, sesame seeds and ginger sesame dressing). Each 48 oz salad costs $14.

Given Assembli's proximity to Ryerson University, the restaurant seems to be more of a take-out hotspot, but there is seating if you would rather dine-in (I've done both). They also deliver.

As for accessibility, Assembli has an accessible door button, which was not fully functioning when I went (I was told it was due to the windy conditions at the time). Despite mainly being a self-serve restaurant, staff were more than willing to assist with bringing our pizzas and drinks to our table and moving chairs out of the way.
