Mother's Day is only a few weeks away. If you're anything like me and my rotten siblings, who tend to leave gift buying to the last minute, you probably stick with the tried and true - a bouquet of flowers. For those of you wanting to look outside the flower box, I've compiled a list of gifts for Mom and yes, of course, everything is food related.

This might seem slightly boring but there are some great baskets that are perfect for the one who gave birth to you. Why not give her a basket filled with wine and chocolate?

With more people becoming mindful of excessive waste and its impact on the environment, companies are coming out with reusable water bottles and they have gotten pretty fancy. It's a practical gift for your mom to use while she's at work, working out or running errands. I love the gold detail of these glass water bottles from Lifefactory.

Cookbooks:

Who doesn't love a great cookbook, especially ones filled with photos of delicious recipes? There are so many great cookbooks by fantastic Canadian chefs. I personally love the Toronto Eats cookbook, which includes recipes from some of the best chefs in Toronto.

Recipe Cards and Organizers:

For those moms who love to cook, why not get them something to store all of their recipes in? It's the perfect way to keep all of those recipes that you grew up eating.

French Presses, Teapots:

If your mom is anything like mine, caffeine is like another food group. There are some beautiful teapots and French presses you can choose from. My favourite is this rose gold French press by Bodum.

Smart Speakers:

"Hey Google, where can I buy a smart speaker for my Mom?" Speakers like the Google Home and Amazon Echo have definitely gained in popularity lately and it's easy to understand why. They are REALLY smart! These techy devices are helpful for any home cook. I use mine to find and dictate recipes for me and to convert measurements.

Herb Garden or Indoor Greenhouse:

Instead of buying a boring bouquet of flowers for your mom, why not step it up a notch and get her an indoor greenhouse so that she can have fresh produce and herbs all year long.

Kitchen Appliances:

I have to admit, I have a bit of an addiction to kitchen appliances. There are so many cool ones on the market right now and I'm all about kitchen appliances that are multi-purpose. The ultimate multi-purpose appliance is of course the Instant Pot. You can make anything from pot roasts to cakes and even yogurt in record time. It's a must-have for any mom who loves to cook but may not want to spend hours in the kitchen.

Masterclass:

Give Mom the gift of learning a new skill or finding a new hobby in the comfort of her own home. You can choose from a variety of courses that are taught by the best in various industries. What's cooler than learning how to cook from celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay or Wolfgang Puck?

Brunch:

Mother's Day and brunch seem to go hand in hand. Several great restaurants in Toronto like AGO Bistro and Cafe Boulud are offering Mother's Day brunch specials that are sure to fill your mom's belly with happiness

Gift Cards:

If all else fails or your Mom is just super picky, you can always opt for a gift card. Many stores and restaurants like Oliver & Bonacini offer gift cards. Just try to put a little more thought into it than a Tim Horton's gift card.
